Jodie Hackworthy
Perth born and bred dancer Jodie Hackworthy took her first dance lesson at the age of 3 years old and studied all genres of dance with Shirley Halliday Dance Gallery. She achieved outstanding results in both Examinations and Competition work as a young dancer and was able to start a professional dance career as a young child performing on children's television shows such as Perth's Young Entertainers, Fat Cat's Funtime Show and Miss West Coast Events. Jodie's Examination achievements and accolades include winning the state Elementary Ballet Examinations at 14 years old and the Scholarship Award. Jodie has completed and passed all C.S.T.D. and RAD examinations and Teachers Certificate, not to mention stage exams such as The Martin Rubenstein and The Senior Theatrical Shield.
Jodie showed interest in teaching dance at an early age. She assisted in many junior classes at the age of 11 years under the watchful eye of Miss Shirley Halliday. After earning her teacher’s certificate she went on to teaching the young aspiring students at Johnny Young Talent School. This is where she shared her strength, enthusiasm and the importance of technique with students including a very young Marko Panzic.
As well as these amazing achievements Jodie's performance resume is equally impressive having worked as a regular dancer at the well-known Max Kay Civic Theatre Restaurant for 3 years, cheerleading for the West Coast Eagles and the Perth Wildcats in addition to television appearances with Chris Mainwaring on Channel 7. For many years she worked as a corporate dancer at events including the Hopman Cup Ball, Telethon, Appealathon, The Footy Show and many high profile product and company launches. Jodie has worked with the likes of Jon English, Ray Burgess, Jackie Love, Simon Gallaher, Normie Rowe, James Morrison and Jamie Mercanti. She has toured around Australia with Disney, performing in Aladdin and also worked on many children’s shows for Showtime Attractions.
In her early 20’s she then spread her wings and went international, where she performed with Star Cruises travelling the world and was also lucky enough to train at the famous Pineapple Dance Studios in London.
On returning home to Perth and marrying her sweetheart, she then settled into a teaching position with Dance Force The Studio and has put her heart and soul into teaching and nurturing these students for the best part of 20 years. Jodie's passion and dedication to her teaching was demonstrated when she led Danceforce Under 12's Drummer Boy routine to a successful audition at Australia's Got Talent in 2013. This routine was highly praised and well received by the judges and achieved 4 "yes" votes and went on to the Semi-Finals. This same group has achieved success in so many competitions under Jodie’s teaching as they have just recently been awarded the highest mark in Dance Life Unite 2016. Many successful dancers that have studied under Jodie have gone on to international success as choreographers and have been featured on So You Think You Can Dance.
As well as being a successful Dancer/Choreographer and Teacher Jodie is a dedicated and loving mother of 3 and in her eyes they are her greatest achievements. Her daughters are walking in the successful footprints of their mother under her tutelage as she has passed on her love and passion for the Art of Dance
